Car AC Repair Auto AC Repair

My AC was not blowing cool air. Especially with this Texas weather, I needed it looked at asap! Called around for estimates and extremely expensive. Was referred by someone to call this company and they would provide great service.

That is exactly what happened! Gentlemen came to my location, looked at my ac and told me what was the problem and within an hour it was fixed with a reasonable price! Definitely recommend. They were very knowledgeable and knew what they were doing.

Rochelle P.

Highly recommend! Competent, courteous and quick service at my residence. Explained in detail diagnostic procedures utilized and the cause of loss of AC in my vehicle.

It was clear he truly is an expert in AC systems--well beyond mechanics staffing automotive garages.

Also, it was evident that he is an honest person, averse to taking advantage of clients. Pre-visit communications, including status updates, were great. Fantastic company!

I am truly a fan of this business. They came out, diagnosed my problem and a few short days later had my AC up and running. The young gentleman Nick they sent out to complete the job left me amazed and in awe.

The amount of work it took to complete the job was a lot but he handled it like a champ in the heat too. This man can take a car apart and put it back together in a day. He was nice and professional and his work was impressive. Thank you Kool2U!

I have nothing but great things to say to Aaron, Diana and their crew. Aaron diagnosed and fixed the warm AC problem on my '92 Nissan NX that no 3 shops in San Antonio can solve or fix.

When it comes to your car's AC problem, don't waste your time looking at other shops. Let Kool2U fix it at your home instead, save you time and money as well. I'm a very satisfied customer and will definitely do business in the future again with Aaron. Thanks again!

The crooks at the dealership (where I bought my car - brand new at the time of purchase - a couple of years ago) told me there was a $185 fee to just diagnose what was wrong with the A/C Not fix anything, just to look at it. Besides the fee they were also fully booked for the following 3 weeks!

They asked me if I wanted to go ahead and schedule the appointment? I told them HECK NO! Began Googling for someone who repaired car A/C in SA, TX and after reading about several businesses I decided to try Kool2U.

Aaron were extremely professional always explaining what could be wrong and what they were about to perform to get to the bottom of the issue. Reasonably priced and most importantly got my car fixed SAME DAY!

This is one of the few businesses I have ever dealt with in my entire life that REALLY deserves 5 STARS!!

Finding a reliable, trustworthy auto ac repair shop or mechanic can be a significant headache for vehicle owners. With numerous San Antonio area auto repair shops to choose from, finding reliable mechanic can be daunting and often a huge hassle for you & your family.

Local auto repair shops often promise a "free inspection or AC diagnostic" but don't get fooled. What they mean is a "free visual inspection" which amounts to an educated guess not an actual AC diagnostic. Next, they will recommend an AC pressure test to determine what is at the root of your vehicles AC problem. There goes your "free" inspection!

Now that you have paid for the ac pressure test you are on the hook & get an estimate of recommended parts & repairs. Not wanting to lose your initial expense of having an AC pressure test to diagnose the problem you agree to the recommended parts & repairs.

Most Common Auto AC Repairs In Texas?

In Texas, you may use your auto A/C heater and air conditioner all in the same day just depending on the time. Afternoons can get quite stifling requiring that blast of cool air from your cars a/c. Luckily, this is the time of year that if your cars A/C does go out, it’s not the end of the world. However, you don’t want to be without cars a/c too long because the temperatures will only continue to rise!  Most people are not sure how to diagnose their Auto A/C problems. There are several reasons why your car a/c may stop working, here are the most common auto a/c problems and how they can be repaired.

Your cars A/C system is comprised of many components including an a/c compressor that is driven by the engine; an a/c expansion valve that regulates the flow of refrigerant or Freon; and two a/c heat exchangers including the a/c evaporator and a/c condenser. Refrigerant (Freon) is a fluid that turns into a gas and back to liquid form, flowing throughout the system.

Most often this issue is caused by an ac refrigerant (Freon) leak (R12, R134a, or R1234yf). Your cars a/c relies heavily on the refrigerant (Freon) to cool the vehicle. Without sufficient a/c refrigerant, the other auto a/c components will be unable to function. An Auto A/C leak can occur at any time but most often it is due to a hole in a connection, a/c hoses, a/c compressor, a/c condenser, or a ruptured a/c evaporator. Unlike an oil leak, unfortunately, refrigerant (Freon) leaks are difficult to identify (R12, R134z, or R1234yf). This is because your auto a/c refrigerant is meant to evaporate when exposed to the environment.

Solution: A Kool2U certified auto a/c repair specialist will need to add a fluorescent leak tracer dye and ac refrigerant to the system. Once added, your auto a/c repair technician will run the car a/c and using a Kool2U's Proprietary auto A/C Leak Detection System . Your Auto A/C Repair Technician will then be able to identify your auto a/c leak to begin repairs and finally perform an a/c evacuation and a/c recharge to once again blow cold air.  Kool2U's proprietary leak detection system finds the leaks other auto a/c systems miss!

This issue isn’t as clear cut as hot air coming through the vents. A knowledgeable auto ac repair technician will need to eliminate the possible causes by checking several components first. The auto a/c repair technician may begin checking for:

  • A blown fuse or bad relay – If the ventilation fuse blows there will be no power to the a/c blower motor preventing air from blowing through the vents. Likewise, a bad a/c relay can also be the culprit since the relay takes the small electrical current and uses it to regulate the larger current needed for ventilation.

  • Damage to the auto a/c blower motor or blower resistor – The a/c blower motor is what pushes the air through the vents in the car, similar to a fan in your home. Auto A/C Blower motors that have malfunctioned due to wear or age will prevent air from coming through the vents. Similarly, the a/c blower resistor works with the a/c blower motor to control the level of how much air is produced to flow through the vents (low, medium, high) based on your preference.

  • Blocked air intake – Auto A/C's have two areas where air enters your cars a/c One is where air enters your cars a/c is through vents by the lower half of the windshield and the other is the air that is recirculated from inside the cabin. If either of the a/c air intake areas is blocked from a clogged filter or other debris, your cars a/c vents may blow little to no air.

  • Damaged belts and hoses – An auto A/C system is equipped with many a/c hoses and belts that operate your cars a/c system. Any sort of a/c leak, detachment, or blockages will prevent proper airflow from your cars a/c vents.

Most often this issue is due to low ac refrigerant. When there is not enough a/c refrigerant (Freon) in the system the pressure is reduced which prevents the clutch from triggering the a/c compressor to begin its cycle. If enough a/c refrigerant is in the system it could also be caused by:

  • Blocked or Failed Condenser – Your cars a/c condenser is the device that takes the a/c refrigerant from its gaseous state by removing the heat and transforming it back into a liquid state. If your cars a/c condenser has a blockage or is otherwise damaged, the air coming through the vents will not be cold.

  • Failed Clutch Switch – If this component is not functioning, the a/c compressor will be unable to operate, thus preventing it from condensing the liquid refrigerant into gas.

When you turn on your cars a/c & an noxious smell of mildew hits your nostrils, it’s because of the growth of bacteria in your cars a/c system. This is common with automobiles that seldom use the auto A/C, are older, or that frequently use the maximum a/c setting (due to extra moisture in the unit). Bacteria, mold, fungi, and other micro-organisms may develop behind the dashboard on your cars a/c evaporator. This growth produces a foul odor that comes out of the vents.

Solution: Auto A/C Air filters can collect dirt, water, dust, and other pollutants and after some time producing an odor. Replacing your cars a/c air filter will help combat this issue. If replacing the filter does not eradicate the stench, a Kool2U Auto A/C Repair technician will need to add an anti-bacterial solution into your car's a/c evaporator area to kill mold and other contaminants from the a/c system.

Anytime your car makes a noise that wasn’t there before could be a sign of trouble. Auto A/C systems are relatively quiet when in use. When you turn on your car a/c and hear rattling, banging, or other unusual sounds, it’s normal to feel a bit nervous about what is causing the issue. It could be as simple as leaves or other road debris blocking the a/c system producing all sorts of unusual noises. It could also indicate a major component of your cars a/c could be in failure and in need of repair. If a bearing is worn out your car a/c it will produce a grinding or squealing sound. A rattling sound could indicate your cars a/c compressor’s clutch has failed.

Solution: Continuing to use your car A/C may only make things worse. Call Kool2U's Mobile Auto A/C Repair Specialists to perform a thorough inspection. A thorough inspection your car a/c will be able to determine if a major component is in failure and whether your cars a/c will need to be repaired.

Bacteria builds up on your car a/c evaporator coil in the A/C heater box located under your dashboard. The bacteria from airflow mixes with the condensation from the car a/c coils, creating a slimy film on the AC fins and producing a moldy smell. After time, the film builds up and can clog the drain line. The drain line is a rubber hose that begins in the a/c evaporator heater box, goes through the floor, and to the undercarriage to remove excess moisture. Once plugged, water from the condensation fills up the a/c heater box and begins dripping out and onto the floor of the vehicle, typically on the passenger side.

Solution: If you notice the floor of your automobile is damp, don’t hesitate in contacting Kool2U Mobile Auto A/C Repair and schedule an appointment. A Kool2U Auto A/C Repair technician will need to determine what has caused the drain line to become clogged and repair or replace the hose as necessary.

When you’re driving your car and the a/c suddenly goes from comfortably cool to horribly hot, you know there’s a problem with your car's a/c system. It’s possible that the a/c expansion valve that dispenses the correct amount of a/c refrigerant (Freon) to the a/c evaporator has failed. A blocked a/c expansion valve prevents the refrigerant (Freon) from reaching the a/c evaporator and, if moisture is present, causing the a/c valve to freeze.

Solution: Your car's a/c should be cold. If it’s not a Kool2U certified auto a/c repair technician will need to properly test the ac system’s pressure and inspect components for blockages or malfunctions.

No matter what symptoms your car a/c may be experiencing, a certified Kool2U auto a/c repair specialist knows how to properly diagnose car A/C problems and how to properly repair your vehicle's a/c to properly function. Need service on your Auto A/C for repair?
